Here's a beautiful recipe from our

Italian Anise Cookies

Yield: Approximately 5 Dozen.

These cookies taste better, as they age

 

3/2 Cup Unsalted Butter

1/4 Cup Salute Sante! Grapeseed Oil

1 1/2 Cups Evaporated Cane Sugar

4 Large Eggs, beaten

1 tsp. Anise Extract ( I use Anise Oil)

1 tsp. Lemon Extract

1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

4 Cups All Purpose Flour

2 tsp.Baking Powder

1/2 tsp.Baking Soda

 

1. Melt butter and mix with oil.Cool

2. In a mixer, blend sugar,eggs, anise extract, lemon extract, and vanilla extract until well incorporated

3. Mix dry ingredients and add to wet ingredients to form a soft dough.

4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees

5.Drop tbsp of dough on to parchment lined baking sheet

6.Bake for 15-20 minutes until browned

7.Transefer cookies to a rack. Immediately. Generously, brush frosting on top while warm,. Sprinkle confetti on top and let it set up 

 

Frosting:

 

2 Cups Confectioners Sugar

2-3 Tbsp Milk

1 tsp extract of choice, I prefer Anise

Confetti nonpareils

 

Blend sugar, milk, and extract until smooth and still fairly thick. You should be able to apply with a brush.
