Lebanese Fritters with Pink Rose Syrup

Here's a beautiful recipe from our

Fritters;
 
2 Cups All Purpose Flour
1 Cup Plain Yogurt, at room temperature
1/4 Tsp. Dry Yeast
1/4 Tsp. Salt
2 Tbsp. Water, warm
Salute Santé! Grapeseed Oil, to fry
 
1. Dissolve dry yeast in warm water for 1 minute.
2. Combine flour and salt.
3. Combine yeast mixture and yogurt
4.  Add yogurt mixture to flour mix, This can be done by hand or a food processor. Batter should be thick. Cover, and let rest for 45 
     minutes 
5.  Heat oil to 375F degrees.
6.  Drop tsp. size portions into the hot oil and fry until deep golden brown. Be careful not to cook too quickly to avoid raw center.
7. Transfer fritters to paper lined plate. Serve with pink rose syrup on the side. Dust with powdered sugar , if desired, to garnish
 
Pink Rose Syrup;
 
1 Cup Granulated Sugar
1 Cup Water
2 Tbsp Lemon Juice, or more to taste
2 Tbsp Rose Water
1 Tbsp Beet Juice (from a can of beets) for color (This is optional)
 
1. Bring sugar and water to a simmer in a small pan until the syrup is light and the sugar is dissolved
2. Off the heat, add lemon juice and rose water . Adjust flavors to your own taste
3. Add beet juice to color the clear liquid, a tint of pink
4. Serve syrup cold or warm on the side of yogurt fritters 
5. Garnish the plate with edible roses, if desired
